SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH BOX & FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 22 LR. S# 17688-S. Bbl 6". Woodsman manufactured by Colt in 1948. The left side of the barrel is stamped with Colt's single line address, followed by the Rampant Colt logo above "WOODSMAN", with "COLT" and the caliber designation on the left side of the slide. Metal components exhibit a blued finish, with the frame being mounted with 2 piece aftermarket Colt logo checkered wood thumbrest grips. MAGS: 1 10 rnd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory box containing the original set of 2 piece Colt checkered brown plastic thumbrest grips, 2 brown plastic rear grip extensions, as well as the manual. Factory letter indicates that this example was included in a shipment of 28 pistols shipped to Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis, MI on August 8th of 1948. CONDITION: good overall, with metal components retaining the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots of mild wear overall, with the grip straps exhibiting wear and thinning through to gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting good rifling throughout. Aftermarket grips are very good overall. Box shows some exterior wear and some separation at the corners on the lid, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (23-1788/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,100.
