SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 4981. Bbl. 4 5/8". Type 14 Nambu semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Koishikawa arsenal in July of 1929. The left side of the frame is marked with Kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the Koishikawa arsenal insignia, S#, and the Showa date "4.7" marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting either a straw or polished in-the-white finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Nearly all numbers are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, trigger, mag. release button, mag. safety, bolt, grips, as well as the mag. Cocking knob and locking block are mismatched. MAGS: one 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning, with varying degrees of oxidation and pitting present overall. Strawed parts retain traces of their original finish, exhibiting wear and thinning that shows through to a gray patina. Extremely bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show a few marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, with the left panel exhibiting a line in the usual area from the safety lever. (24-4043/MLW). CURIO. $500-1,000.
