This horn measures approx. 10 1/2" x 4 1/4" at its widest point. It has a brass spout and a serrated edge at the butt with an iron chain for suspension. One side of the horn is engraved “DROMM. CLOGG. BOTHWEL. BRIDGE CAPN. PATTON”. The other side reads “S J . SHEELS 40 JNO ORR”. The Battle of Bothwell Bridge took place on June 22, 1679 and was fought between government troops and militant Presbyterian Covenanters. The battle signaled the end of the brief Presbyterian rebellion and took place over the River Clyde in Lanarkshire, Scotland. CONDITION: the horn is surprisingly solid and shows light to moderate wear overall. (02-17916/BF). $600-1,000.
