ARMY CONTRACT HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 5293. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Fabrique Nationale under contract for the Belgian army for the first contract order of 10,000 pistols in 1935. Left side of the slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE/ HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPSE", with Belgian military proofs present on the left side of the frame, slide, as well as on the right side of the bbl. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Sides of the slide appear to have been lightly touched up along the forward surfaces. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with V-notch tangent rear sight, graduated 50-500. Thumbprint slide, with slotted frame for stock attachment. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. Underside of the bbl. lug is also numbered "992". MAGS: 1 13-rd. mag., with Belgian proofs on the spine. Right side of the mag. is lightly inscribed "36792". Body features a parkerized finish, with the split tail floorplate exhibiting a blue finish. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of light to mild wear and thinning that shows through to gray patina, some superficial marks from handling, storage, and disassembly, as well as some scattered spots of light to mild pitting (some pitting appears to be below the finish in the aforementioned areas that appear to be touched up). Fair bore, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting, as well as some spots of hardened grease, while retaining fair to good rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some superficial marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
