A very interesting Vietnamese ceremonial bronze helmet likely dating from the Dong Son period (800BC to 200AD). The helmet is bronze and stands about 7 1/2" high and measures 9 3/4 inches from front to back at the base. There is odd figure at the front and whirls on each side above a loop that is likely for a chinstrap or similar device. The spike at the top has a 14 point star at the base. CONDITION: the helmet is obviously excavated with a deep verdigris patina. The left (as viewed) brim has broken away but is present. (02-24861/BF). NON-GUN. $300-600.
