Cal. 35 WSL. S# 13278. Bbl. 22". Model 1905 semi-automatic rifle mfg. by Winchester during the second year of production (1906). Top of the bbl. exhibits markings stipulating Winchester's mfg. and patent information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Pistol grip buttstock (with later added custom checkering), with plain wood forend. Dovetailed Lyman blade front sight (bead is absent), with U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the upper and lower assemblies. Mag. is absent. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that shows through to gray and brown patinas. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the sides of the forend exhibiting a crack on either side stemming from the receiver. Buttstock exhibits a crack on the right side of the wrist, with a large chip present on the buttplate near the toe. (25-1539/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
