MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3103334. Bbl. 24". Marked behind front sight "RA / flaming bomb / 5-42". Rifle was made by Remington using machinery supplied by Rock Island Arsenal & incorporates a number of production simplifications including the receiver tang drilled through, rear sight base w/o lightening cuts & a generally coarser machined finish. Ladder rear sight w/o volley notch. Remington marked windage knob. Blade front sight. Receiver has Hatcher hole. Bolt w/ straight down handle is marked on top of safety lug w/ "625". Bolt has single small gas hole. Cutoff is marked "R". All milled furniture including fine checkered trap buttplate. Trigger guard marked "R" on right rear. Bbl. bands marked "R". Walnut stock set. Buttstock is straight grip 1903A3 type w/ pinned reinforcements. CONDITION: stock set has lightly worn finish w/ scattered handling marks. Metal retains a very large degree of its arsenal rework parkerization except the replacement lower band has a overall gray finish. Very good shiny four-groove bore. (25-2800/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
