SERVICE. Late 19th, early 20th century, American. Service embossed in a heavy floral and fern leaf pattern. Each piece with a central cartouche flanked by cherubs. The set comprised of a kettle on stand, coffee pot, low teapot; all with heat spacers on handles and each with a lid. Also included is a footed creamer, two handled sugar bowl with lid and a waste bowl with handles. Each piece is marked with Gorham hallmark, "Sterling", and "1990"; an additional mark resembling a fleur de lis. The large rectangular foliate chased tray, the edge with grape leaves and clusters. The handles similarly cast with the addition of a shell in the center of each. The silver plated tray is of high quality, but otherwise unmarked. Teapot weighs 29.0 oz.t., creamer weighs 16.5 oz.t, coffee pot weighs 39.0 oz.t, covered sugar weighs 23.0 oz.t, open sugar weighs 18.5 oz.t, kettle weighs 52.0 oz.t, and stand 33.0 oz.t. The total weight of the 6 pieces is approx. 211 oz.t. SIZE: Tray is 2" h x 29" l overall x 19" w. PROVENANCE: From an Estate in Bar Harbor, Maine. CONDITION: very good condition overall.
