SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 8mm CF (Likely 8.15x46R. S# 45. Bbl. 28 1/2" oct. fluted configuration w/ matted top flat. Bottom flat of bbl. has crown over "B", "U" & "G" proof marks. Marked 1/72,28 over "8.04" over "384" followed by apparent serial number "45". Left flat has silver inlaid marking "EMIL ESTEL". Right flat marked "VILSHOFEN". Martini type action w/ finger curl lever. Double set triggers. Sides of action feature vignettes of Schuetzen participant in traditional garb w/ silver inlaid highlights. Scenes are surrounded by vine type floral scroll w/ silver inlaid flowers. Matching scroll extends to upper & lower action areas along w/ buttplate tang. Large disc tang sight w/ replacement ramp mounted globe sight. Schnable tipped wedged fastened forearm & Schuetzen style walnut stock w/ large dished cheekpiece having thumbrest on right side. Stock is checkered at wrist & bordered by deep relief foliate carving that extends to forward area of stock, front & rear forearm areas. Steel Schuetzen buttplate w/ hooked toe & modern woven leather sling on original slings. CONDITION: bbl. has lightly faded brown finish. Action retains traces of case colors w/ balance fading to gray. Wood has worn original finish showing numerous scratches & marks. Action & triggers function when hand cycled. Bore is dark w/ worn rifling. (24-2206/DS). CURIO. $2,500-4,000.
