PISTOL. Cal. 40. NSN. Mfg. by J&W Richards of London circa 1808-1810. Brass pistol w/ 3 3/8" screw on bbls. Muzzles have notches to seat balls. Bbls. numbered "12" & "13"; left side of frame numbered respectively. Boxlock "Tap-Action" with toggle to exposed touch hole for bottom barrel. Top tang has sliding safety for hammer. Sides of receiver have patriotic motifs & marked " J&W / RICHARDS" on left side & "LONDON" on right side. Walnut bag type grip. CONDITION: brass has been cleaned reacquiring patina showing peep impressions & scratches throughout; bottom tang shows area of numerous scratches & marks. Pitting & corrosion in pan. Safety is not functioning. Sanded & refinished grip has sm. chips, deep impressions & scratches. 2 Screws appear to be replacements. Fair bore w/ light pitting. (01-23096/MD). ANTIQUE. $500-800.
