FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 60. NSN. Circa 1750 pistol by Joseph Clarkson of London. Cannonade style 5 3/8" screw on bbl. Boxlock action w/ center hammer, scroll engraving & London "V" & "CP" proofs on bottom. Engraved on left side "LONDON" & right side "CLARKSON". Triggerguard bow slides as safety for hammer. Walnut bag style grip with scroll wire inlays. CONDITION: metal has gray patina appearance w/ light pitting, scratches, worn engraving & dents. Corrosion & pitting in pan. Grip is shrunk at action with repaired break on left side. Sanded & refinished varnish showing gouges & impressions. Hammer will not hold in cocked position & triggerguard bow will not keep hammer in safety. Fair lightly pitted bore. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of James B. Taylor. (01-23093/MD).
