GRIPS IN KITTREDGE & CO LEATHER TRAVEL CASE. Cal. 22. S# 21077. Nickel plated revolver with 2-1/8" flat side barrel has Colt info on top. Left side is etched "COLT NEW 22". Cylinder is of long fluted 2nd model type. Solid frame single action with circular boss on left side has gold plated hammer with spur trigger. Grips are plain ivory. Pistol is engraved with near full coverage sprays of scroll within geometric and line borders. Pistol is housed in three fold black Morocco leather wallet lined in red Morocco which surrounds central blue cloth lined platform with compartment for revolver offset by 3-1/2" diameter German silver container with hinged top embossed "B. Kittredge & Co" "Cincinnati" (arms dealer 1845-91). A vacant brass oval is also tacked on to base. CONDITION: good. Revolver retaining 60-70% nickel finish with some bubbling and loss mostly on top strap. Cylinder shows some pitting and is gray patina. Some gold plate remains on hammer. Grips show considerable cleaning and old cracks. Bore is good. Mechanically good. Leather shows some losses on edges along with some minor tears. Interior cloth shows some rubbing and wear mostly from contact with hammer spur. (01-23954/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,500-3,500.
