BEAUTIFULLY ENGRAVED AND FILED. Cal. 16 Ga. (2-1/2")/8x57JR. S# 13686. This beautifully made and nicely engraved combo has 27" barrels fitted with full length matted rib holding flip-up rear and silver bead front sights. Claw scope bases are offset to right of rib. Rib extension is cut for rising bite action. Retailers name and address "Carl Grundig" "Dresden" is on top barrel. Barrel flats are stamped with May 1924 German proofs for 16 Ga. and 8x57 rifle cartridge. Case hardened scalloped back boxlock O/U action with top tang safety is nicely filed with sculpted teardrops on fences and well shaped beads. Action is fitted with Rigby style rising bite third fastener, seldom seen on German guns, intercepting safety sears and double triggers (front set). Action is engraved with full coverage cleanly cut and shaded scrolling acanthus which surrounds fine game scenes on sides. Left side depicts a roebuck and doe running through clearing while a pheasant takes wing in background. Right side has scene of semi-relief roaring stag with two hinds in woodlands. Bottom of action is engraved "ORIGINAL" "Ernst Kerner Bock". Relief scroll engraved trigger guard is blued. Round knob pistol grip buttstock of well veined European walnut measures 14" over basket weave horn buttplate and features, shadow line right hand cheekpiece, sling loop and point pattern checkering. Matching one piece forend with schnabled tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBL: Bore Diameter: Shotgun barrel .675. Restriction: .040 (Extra full). Wall thickness: .030. STOCK: DAH: 2-3/4".
