ORIGINAL MAUSER "IWA '84" SPECIAL EDITION LUGER WITH DISPLAY CASE & PAPERWORK. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 11.015562. Bbl. 5 7/8". Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1986 and subsequently (and beautifully) embellished in conjunction with the IWA (Internationale Waffen Ausstellung / International Weapons Exhibition) OutdoorClassics event. Left side of the frame is marked with a German Eagle/N commercial nitro proof, followed by an "IG" (86) date code, and Ulm Proof House antler, with "ARMES DE CHASSE KENNET SQUARE PA" on the right frame rail above "JWA '84" and the S#. Front grip strap is marked with Mauser's mfg. information, with "Made in Germany" marked on the rear of the frame. Forward toggle link is marked with the Original Mauser logo. Top of bbl. is marked with the cal. designation. Frame, sideplate, toggles, and breech end of bbl. feature finely executed German leaf style scroll engraving, with hatching/shading on leaves. Left side of the frame is marked with what appears to be a stylized engravers signature beneath the toggle "ear". Metal components exhibit dual-tone polished and matte gray finish overall, with some small parts being strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece natural white grips, with the left panel featuring a 14k gold oval escutcheon. Serrated blade front sight with U-notch rear sight on rear toggle link. Frame and bbl. extension exhibit matching S#s. Grips are matching the frame via "5562" which is handwritten in black ink on the interior of the panels. MAGS: 2 plated 8-rd. mags., with unmarked wood plugs. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: dark brown leather wrapped transit/display case with brass fittings. Interior of case features a red velour lining, with a brown leather panel embellished with a gold Mauser banner logo on the interior of the lid. Case contains 2 keys, a brass cleaning rod, as well as a loading tool. This example is also accompanied by 1 September 25th of 1986 dated invoice from Armes De Chasse, a sales letter detailing engraving variations, as well as an order confirmation letter. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original gray factory finish, with scattered spots of darker discoloration present on the bbl. Strawed parts are excellent, with some light wear present on the grip strap. Safety bar shows some wear from operation. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are excellent, with a light mellow age related coloration present overall. Exterior of case shows scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. An especially attractive and rare Original Mauser Luger variant. (25-3424/MLW). MODERN. $1,200-1,800.
