MODEL DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 41 LC. S# 42564. Bbl. 2 1/2". 1877 Thunderer Storekeepers Model double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1883. Left side of bbl. exhibits an acid etched panel which reads "COLT D.A. 41", with the top of the bbl. exhibiting Colt's 2-line address. Left side of frame is marked with Colt's patent information having "41 CAL" stamped on the rear trigger guard web. Metal components exhibit a nickel plated finish plus some smaller components including the trigger, hammer, and frame screws exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted w/ 2-piece smooth pearl grips. Half-moon blade front sight plus frame notched rear sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter indicating that this example was shipped w/ a 2 1/2" bbl., nickel plated finish, rubber grips, & was 1 of 50 revolvers shipping to Hartley & Graham on April 6th, 1883. CONDITION: metal components retain lg. amounts of their original factory nickel plated finish, exhibiting areas of wear scattered spots plus areas of bubbling and flaking that show through to gray patina. Nitre blued components exhibit varying degrees of wear w/ most retaining a gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show scattered handling marks plus some gouges and chips, but otherwise remain sturdy & serviceable. (01-25278/MLW). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
