MODEL DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 41 LC. S# 22520. Bbl. 2 1/2". 1877 Thunderer Storekeepers Model double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1880. Left side of bbl. exhibits an acid etched panel that is marked "COLT D.A. 41", with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of frame is marked with Colt's patent information having "41 CAL" marked on the rear trigger guard web. Metal components exhibit a blue finish. Frame is mounted w/ a 1-piece checkered wood grip. German silver half-moon blade front sight having frame notched rear sight. Hammer appears to have been cleaned on either side at one point in time. All numbers are matching including the frame, trigger guard, butt, and cyl. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter indicates that this example was shipped with a 2 1/2" bbl., blue finish, "Not Listed" stocks plus was 1 of 30 revolvers shipped to Hartley & Graham in New York, NY on February 14th, 1880. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their original factory blue finish having the balance retaining a gray patina w/ areas of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grip exhibits some smoothing, scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (01-25276/MLW). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
