SINGLE SHOT PERCUSSION PISTOL. Cal. 32. S# 12. Bbl. 10" overall, 5 1/4" oct. to round bbl., top of frame marked “POCKET RIFLE / CAST STEEL / WARRANTED” & “MEAD & ADRIANCE” who were St. Louis jewelers selling this gun about 1836. This gun is pictured as figure 134 in Herschel Logan’s 1960 “Pictorial History of the Under Hammer Gun”. PROVENANCE: ex- Phillip Van Cleave collection; ex Paul Henry collection 1989. CONDITION: very good overall, complete & original, fairly sharp edges, discernible markings, mottled gray iron patina, traces of finish, pitting around breech. Pistol is accompanied by 7 1/2" bone & brass tipped cleaning rod as shown w/ it in included late 1992 article. (Brass tip is slightly too lg. for use on this pistol). PROVENANCE: Lifelong collection of early Allen pistols. (01-18602/JS). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
