Cal. about 65. NSN. Bbl. 7 3/8" w/ cannonade muzzle, faceted transition to octagon shank & smoothbore. Top flat has sunken Eudal Mola marking. Mola was active in the Ripoll area in the late 18th century. Bbl. & top tang have foliate engraving. Miquelet lock has Spanish language marking “TORRENTO”. Ornate pin fastened stock having relief carving around top tang w/ incise carving along bbl. & ramrod channel areas. Brass butt cap, trigger guard & side plate are engraved w/ silver inlaid ornamentation. Brass stock band & thimble area has pierced clam shell ornamentation. Wrist plate is silver. Left side has an engraved iron belt hook. Brass tipped iron ramrod. CONDITION: bbl. & lock have cleaned appearance showing scattered pitting. Stock shows wear & handling marks w/ cracks in the lock & side plate areas. Left side of butt cap has an area of missing brass. Functioning lock. Dark pitted bore. (01-23037/DS).
