STOCK. Cal. 58. S# NSN. The 37" barrel with octagonal breech section has proof marks on left flat. Barrel is fitted with "U" notch rear and blade front sights. Percussion lock is marked "860" at center and has double eagle proof at rear. Stock appears to be of sycamore and is iron mounted. Buttplate and sideplate are stamped with various numbers. No marks are found on wood. Barrel attaches to stock with three spring retained bands that also have number stamps. A tulip head steel ramrod is present. CONDITION: good. Metal parts cleaned to pewter gray with some scattered light pitting. Stock appears to be of newer manufacture and retains most of its original oil finish. Five groove rifle bore is good; lightly pitted throughout. Lock is good. (01-25591/MGM). ANTIQUE. $500-800.
