Overall length: 40 3/8”. Blade length: 34”. Plain blade has a central medium fuller and is marked “2” at the ricasso. Even though the style of this sword is 18th century, we believe the sword dates to the first half of the 19th century and probably saw use as a court sword. The hilt is believed to be silver plate and is of a smallsword form. It shows an oval cupped disc guard and rudimentary pas d’ane. The guard, knuckle bow, hexagonal urn pommel, and grip all have a similar knot-like motif. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium to light gray overall patina. Hilt has an overall light layer of tarnish. (02-20098/BF). $500-700.
