LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 Evans Long (1 1/2" case). NSN. Bbl. 30" round & maybe replacement. Top has hand stamped marking “EVANS SPORTING RIFLE”. Blade front sight w/ graduated leaf rear sight. Blue finished bbl. & action w/ case colored lever & cocking lever. Revolving mag. loads through buttplate & is held in receiver extension tube. Schnabel tipped walnut forearm has coarse wraparound checkering w/ 2 pearl stars inlaid on its sides & pearl shield on the bottom. 2 piece walnut stock. Lower piece has inletted sling swivel. Top section has pearl inlaid star on left side w/ pearl old man in the moon inlays on both sides. Estimated quantity of 12,200 mfg. 1873-1879. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 15 fired cases made from 445 Super Mag brass & test target shot by this rifle. CONDITION: action retains 80% dull fading blue showing carry wear. Lever, cocking lever & trigger retain 50% lightly visible case colors. Bbl. blue is fading to a mottled gray brown appearance. Wood finish shows moderate wear w/ scattered scratches & marks. Forearm has a large dent at bottom forward of action. Sound action. Bore has dark appearance w/ intact rifling showing spots of pitting. (01-21775/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
