ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 Evans. S# 2149. Bbl. 25 1/2" octagon w/ bead front sight & graduated leaf rear sight. Top flat is marked “EVANS REPEATING RIFLE MECHANIC FALLS, ME/PAT DEC. 8, 1868 & SEPT. 16, 1871”. Blue finished lever operated action w/ nickel finished lever & cocking lever. Tubular mag. Revolver mag. loads through buttplate & is held in the tubular receiver extension. Steel capped walnut forearm & 2 piece walnut stock w/ case colored steel buttplate. Approx. 1220 mfg. 1873-1879. CONDITION: very fine retaining over 60% lightly worn blue showing carry wear, light scratches & small scattered spots of corrosion. Good original wood finish showing numerous scratches, marks & small dents. Functioning action. Bright bore retains strong rifling. (01-21801/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
