The Winchester book of George Madis states that "A part round barrel in the extra light weight model is among the greatest rarities of any Winchester". Lyman No. 4 ivory hunting front sight, flat top sporting rear sight & Marbles combination tang sight. Half length takedown mag. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & lever. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ replacement hard rubber shotgun buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Museum letter providing the following information "Type: Rifle / Caliber: 45/70 / Barrel Type: 1/2 Octagon, nickel steel / Barrel Length: 22 inches / Trigger: plain / Sights: Smokeless / Extra light weight / 1/2 Magazine / Shotgun butt with rubber butt plate / Takedown / Received in warehouse on August 4, 1908. / Shipped from warehouse on August 5, 1908, Order number 160834A.". CONDITION: bbl. retains over 80% lightly faded original blue showing edge wear & areas of freckling. Action retains over 70% worn blue w/ areas of freckling fading to brown. Hammer & lever show sm. amounts of case colors. Original wood finish shows numerous scratches, dents & handling marks. Toe of stock has a 4 1/4" repair. Good mechanics.
