INGLIS NO.2 MK.I* HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 1T1062. Bbl. 4 5/8". Early No.2 MK.I* semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Inglis under contract for the Netherlands prior to 1948, with this example being one of very few Inglis High Power pistols released by the Netherlands prior to the 1960 Dutch renumbering scheme. The left side of the slide is marked "MK I*" above "BROWNING-F.N.9mm.H.P.", followed by "INGLIS, CANADA", with Canadian proofs marked on the right side of the frame and slide. Right side of the rear sight base is marked with a Dutch Crown/W for Queen Wilhelmina. Metal components exhibit a period arsenal applied parkerized finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips. Thumbprint slide features a small dovetailed blade front sight, with a fixed square notch rear sight. Left side of the frame is fitted with a lanyard ring. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 phosphate 13-rd., with "JI" stamped on the body and split tail floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a page of notes regarding this variation from Charles Wagner, as well as an invoice from William O. Drollinger (William O. Drollinger is described as a noted American High Power Collector in Blake Stevens' book, "The Browning High Power Automatic PIstol") dated October 9th of 2000, listing this pistol by S#. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their period arsenal parkerized finish, exhibiting some mild wear and thinning (primarily on the forward edges of the slide), some light edge wear, some light superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light pitting beneath the finish. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some light to mild pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. An exceedingly scarce first variation Dutch contract Inglis No. 2 Mk. I* High Power pistol.
