BELT FED RIFLE. Cal. 50 BMG. S# 850245. Bbl. 45". The Browning M2HB, affectionately referred to in military circles as "Ma Duece" is another evolution of the successful John Browning designed, recoil operated & belt fed guns that populated the battlefields during WWI. In an effort to build a gun that was comparable to the French 11mm Hotchkiss, w/ a primary purpose of defeating observation balloons & aircraft, the .50 BMG was designed and introduced for the M1921A1, which was quickly modified & reintroduced as the M2. Barrel heating issues would lead to the heavy barrel version that we now know as the M2HB. This example was manufactured by Ohio Ordnance and redesigned as a closed bolt, semiautomatic version. Outwardly it looks the same as the fully automatic original. As stated by Ohio Ordnance; "The M2-SLR is a new breed of M2 that features re-designed internals, while still being dimensionally identical to the M2A1. This allows for integration into any existing M2 mounting systems". Dark parkerized finish. Hooded front sight w/ coinciding rear ladder sight adjustable to 2400 meters. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Fitted hard case, 50 caliber ammo can of links, owners manual, test target, cleaning kit, wood display block. CONDITION: All aspects indicate like new, or very gently used, if any. Finish on exposed metal surfaces complete & consistent. No obvious signs of prior use beyond test firing. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling. (25-5168/JZ). MODERN. $9,000-12,000.
