MODEL REVOLVER CHAMBERED IN SCARCE 41 COLT. Cal. 41 Colt. S# 185887. Manufactured in the late 1890s, this superb condition Single Action revolver has survived in almost new condition with exceptional bright blue finish and little, if any, signs of wear. Shipped to Hartley & Graham Co in New York City in 1899. It is one of the last black powder revolvers made and is known as a "transition" model to Colt collectors. This revolver still retains the small, original black powder front sight and narrow land rifling appropriate for accuracy with black powder loads, is not guaranteed for smokeless powder and has no verified "VP" mark on the trigger guard. It is 100% factory original with a sharp, bright bore and mechanics are as new. This revolver is chambered for the original 41 Colt cartridge, the supposed favorite of Billy "the kid" Bonney, and is very difficult to find today in this exceptional condition (a mere 5% of SAAs were chambered in this caliber). It would be very difficult to duplicate the condition of this fine gun. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Archive letter confirms specifications of the gun and further stating date of shipment: May 10, 1899. Number of same type guns in shipment: 5. CONDITION: very fine. Bbl. and cyl. retain over 90% blue showing scattered dull spotting and edge wear. Frame and hammer retain over 85% lightly muted case colors showing spots of freckling and darkened appearance. Grips are very good showing some flattened checkering diamonds. Crisp mechanics. Bore retains sound rifling showing some light pitting. (23-1814). CURIO. $14,000-18,000.
