38 REVOLVER. Cal. 38. S #2278. Standard first model, circa 1875, with short cylinder flutes & external cylinder stops, 2.25" barrel, 2-line address "COLT NEW 38" etched panel on left side, blue & case colors, varnished wood grips. CONDITION: Extremely fine, complete & matching, retaining 95% plus bright blue, bright case colors except on grip straps which have faded to silver. Good fire blue on top of hammer, trigger, and screws. Sides of hammer have their original bright polished surface. Grips retain most all varnished finish. Mechanically fine, crisp shiny rifled bore.
