CASE. Cal. 31. S# 181177. Bbl. 6” octagon w/ Hartford address. Cone style brass front sight. Five shot round stagecoach scene roll engraved cyl. Blue & case colored finish w/ silver finished backstrap & large round trigger guard. 1 Piece walnut grips. Bbl., frame, grip straps, cyl., loading lever & wedge have matching numbers. Mfg. 1860 just prior to the American Civil War. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: period wood casing w/ faded cloth fitted interior. Case contains powder flask, brass 2 cavity bullet mold, case key, round balls & bullets. Also included is a wrapped six round package of Hazard’s combustible envelope cartridges. CONDITION: very fine. Bbl. & cyl. retain 95% original blue showing small spots of flaking. Cyl. has crisp scene. Frame, loading lever & hammer retain over 90% case colors. Grip straps have 90% silver finish w/ a pleasing dark tarnish in protected areas. Original grip finish shows scattered light marks. Crisp mechanics.
