DATE LUFTWAFFE CONTRACT P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Para. S# 9344. Bbl. 4". 1 of only approx. 2,500 P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Krieghoff in 1937 under contract for the German Luftwaffe. The top of the bbl. extension is marked "1937" over the chamber, with Krieghoff proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Krieghoff's ("H" ANCHOR "K") logo above "KRIEGHOFF/ SUHL". Disassembly shows all small and internal parts with proper Krieghoff acceptance proofs. Major metal components exhibit a lustrous high polish blue finish, with several small parts, including the takedown lever, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered brown plastic grips. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever (rear), sideplate (interior), trigger, safety lever & bar, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, firing pin, firing pin guide, toggles, as well as the rear toggle pin. MAGS: 1 non-matching 8-rd. mag. (S# 7666c). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leather holster marked with an Eagle/2 on the interior, containing a Eagle/2 loading tool. CONDITION: extremely fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear and thinning, some light superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Left side of the bbl. exhibits an area of thinning, with the frame exhibiting a small area of wear at the toe, both consistent with usual holster wear. Strawed parts retain large amounts of their original finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as spots of darker age related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting streaks of mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips are very good, showing light to mild smoothing, as well as some scattered nicks and marks to the diamonds. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting scattered marks from handling and storage, as well as several scratches. An exceptional example of a 1937 dated Krieghoff P.08 Luger, delivered to the Luftwaffe prior to World War II. (24-6884/MLW). CURIO. $6,000-9,000.
