ARMY SEMI AUTO PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 414787. Mfg. within S# batch 290,000-450,000 from May 1918 to Oct. 24, 1918. The "Black Army" designation is from the dark brushed blued finish applied on the frame & slide. Correct features include: 5" Colt Type 4 barrel, Type 1 double diamond checkered walnut grips, Type C hammer, Type C safety lock tab, Type A slide lock, short grip safety, Type 1 mainspring housing, Type 2 mainspring housing pin, long trigger, Type C mag. release lock, Type 3 recoil spring plug, Type B recoil spring guide, Type A front sight & Type B rear sight. Left side of frame has Eagle Head S13 proof. MAGS: 1 two tone 7 rd. mag.; very good w/ some of patina along in the white areas. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Granton & Knight 1917 dated Russett Model 1916 leather holster marked with US in oval, "J.A.O" inspector mark & has leather tong. Inside of flap stamped "1981". Back of holster has matching S#. Also comes with lanyard cord. Holster has very good appearance with scattered light marks & scuffs. CONDITION: top of rear sight has significant impression over 95% original brushed blued finish with the occasional light finish wear along slide stop, trigger, scattered small spots along edges, & sides of slide making contact with frame. Finish shows mixing with brown patina on top forward portion of slide, scattered patina spots on front strap & area of patina & light marks on bottom of mainspring housing & frame near butt. Very good grips with scattered flattened diamonds & one area of flattened diamonds on right panel. Barrel has over 90% blue showing wear from cycling; very good to near excellent bore starting to frost in the grooves. (24-969/MD). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
