REVOLVER. Cal. 36. S# 35434. This outstanding example is one of the highest condition 1861 Navy revolvers this cataloguer has ever seen. When comparing production totals with the 1851 Navy (approx. 272,000) & the 1860 Army (200,000), the scarcity of this model (38,843) makes any survivors quite desirable. Factoring in the condition of this fine example, one should not let this opportunity pass them by! Bbl. 7-1/2" round with New York address & German silver blade front sight. Round six shot cyl. with naval scene roll engraving. Creeping style loading lever. Blue finish with case colored frame and hammer having silver finished brass backstrap and trigger guard. 1 piece walnut grip. Bbl., frame, grip straps and cyl. have matching numbers. Wedge is unnumbered. Mfg. 1871. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: one handwritten and one typed letter from separate individuals regarding the history of this revolver. CONDITION: very fine. Barrel and cylinder retain over 85% bright original blue showing small spots of flaking with minor edge and carry wear. Cyl. scene is clear & visible. Frame retains over 80% vibrant original case colors. Grip straps have a mildly bright appearance retaining small amounts of dark tarnished silver in protected areas. Original grip finish very good showing scratches and marks with edge wear around the butt. Mechanics are fine. Bore is generally bright showing light wear and scattered spots of light pitting. (01-23557). ANTIQUE. $25,000-35,000.
