PSM "IZH-75" SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 5.45x18mm. S# BN2203. Bbl. 3 3/8". PSM "IZh-75" (Pistolet Samozaryadny Malogabritny / "Compact Self-Loading Pistol") mfg. in Russia at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. The PSM, a late Cold War era Soviet pistol chambered for the 5.45x18mm cartridge, was designed by the Tula Design Bureau in 1969, largely as a sidearm for Soviet army high command staff, but was also quickly utilized by both the KGB and law enforcement agencies, with very few examples being brought into the United States through diplomatic channels, hence the lack of importation markings. Left side of the slide is marked with the model designation "(2 CYRILLIC CHARACTERS) 75", followed by the S#, which is repeated on the left side of the frame. The right side of the bbl. is struck twice with the cal. designation "5.45x18" on the chamber, above an Austrian eagle and "NPV" proof, followed by "PDM", with the Austrian proofs repeated on the left side of the slide above above the serrations. The slide features a horizontally grooved rib, fixed blade front sight, dovetailed square notch rear sight, as well as a safety lever on the left side. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece grooved and textured black synthetic grip. Externally visible S#s are preset on the frame and slide. Limited disassembly shows an all matching gun, with the trigger guard / takedown lever and ejector appropriately matching via "03" in electro-pencil. Grip is matching via "203", which is etched on the interior of panel, visible on the right side when viewing the mag. slot. MAGS: 2 8-rd. mags. with smooth black synthetic floorplates. 1 Mag. is properly matching via "2203-2" in electro-pencil on the left side, with the second mag. numbered "1237-1" in a matching fashion. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked, possibly original box containing spare mag. and steel threaded cleaning rod. CONDITION: as near new, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory blue finish overall, showing few nearly indiscernible superficial marks from handling and storage. Brilliant mirror chrome lined bore, retaining sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Grip shows some light scattered superficial marks from handling and storage. Box shows shows mild exterior wear and some small scattered spots of minor staining. Possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity for one to acquire a true "Holy Grail" in Russian small arms, a PSM semi-automatic pistol. (25-3546/MLW). CURIO. $7,000-11,000.
