SCARCE FRENCH ST. ETIENNE MAS 223 "FAMAS" SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE. Cal. 223 Rem. S# SA00081B. Bbl. 19 1/4". An instantly recognizable Cold War era assault rifle, the FAMAS remains iconic for its unique appearance, as well as its long service life with the French military. This example, is 1 of only an estimated 250 (Source: Chassepot to FAMAS: French Military Rifles, 1866-2016, by Ian McCollum) MAS 223 "FAMAS" semi-automatic rifles to be mfg. by St. Etienne and imported into the United States prior to the U.S. Assault Weapons Ban, and is marked "MANUFACTURE NATIONALE D'ARMES/ DE SAINT ETIENNE/ MADE IN FRANCE" above Century Arms' importer information on the left side of the receiver, with "MAS .223" above the S# "SA 00081B" marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a parkerized finish overall. The receiver is surrounded by black polymer furniture, which includes the buttstock, lower assembly, pistol grip, and carry handle. Serrated blade front sight with aperture rear sight. Additional features include a birdcage flash hider, integral bipod, 3-position safety lever, as well as an ambidextrous ejection port. Green plastic oiler is present within the grip compartment. MAGS: 1 25-rd. CONDITION: extremely fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory finish, exhibiting some superficial marks from handling and storage overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Polymer furniture is en suite, showing some light superficial handling marks, but otherwise remaining excellent overall.
