ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 32. S# 169. Bbl. 2 7/16". Extremely early New Police double action revolver mfg. in 1897 (first year of production). Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT. D.A. 32", with Colt's 3-line mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo surmounted by "(MALTESE CROSS) COLT'S (MALTESE CROSS)/ NEW POLICE". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with the trigger and top/rear strap of the hammer exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Sides of the hammer are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "COLT" checkered brown hard rubber grips. Standard fixed half-moon blade front sight and frame notched rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, including the frame (butt and interior) and cyl. crane. Grips are matching via "169", which is etched on the interior of the panels. CONDITION: metal components retain good amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, some superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting overall. Top strap of frame exhibits an area of consistent mild to moderate pitting. Grip straps have faded to a mostly mottled gray patina. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting scattered patches and areas of mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some smoothing, as well as scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. An extremely early 3-digit Colt New Police revolver. (01-28754/MLW). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
