Cal. 41. S# 494. About 600 1st model derringers were made by Colt. This is among the 1st made in 1867 in the standard configuration 2.25” teardrop shaped bbl. w/ flattened top w/ 2-line Hartford address terminating on either end w/ a Maltese cross & “NO 1”. Nickel finish w/ minimal foliate engraving, knurled oval panels to sides & back of integral grip. This is about as fine an example you can find which would be difficult to upgrade. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 1999 appraisal document & zeroxed articles on 1st Model Derringers. CONDITION: near excellent, retains virtually all of its original finish w/ light cosmetic scuffs & scratches. Hammer retains most of its original dark case color w/ light scuffing on knurled edge. Screws retain bright blue finish & trigger retains much of its blue. Mechanically fine w/ crisp bright rifled bore. Gun appears probably re-nickled though well-done. (01-18846/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
