BOLT ACTION SHORT RIFLE WITH GERMAN MARKINGS AND MATCHING BAYONET. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# H13347. All visible numbers match. Bbl. 23 5/8". Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. Inverted V front sight w/ protective hood. This fine condition rifle has an attractive appearance w/ original finish & crisp markings. These rifles were an updated version of the Portuguese Model 937A & were made w/ standard German Model 98K features. Germany ceased delivering Portuguese contract rifles in 1944 & those remaining were inspected & issued to the German military while retaining the Portuguese markings. Receiver ring is marked on top w/ Portuguese crest "1941" & eagle "13". Marked on left side w/ German eagle proof. Left receiver rail marked w/ "MAUSER – WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A.N." Bbl. is marked on top over chamber w/ "3" eagle "135" & marked on left side w/ German eagle proof. H Type upper band. Wide lower band. Bands retained by single spring. Bayonet bar & cleaning rod are present. Brown leather German issue side sling. European walnut stock set. Buttstock has cup type buttplate; steel disassembly disk marked on left side with Portuguese crest 1941”. Marked on right side w/ German eagle "135". Marked under grip & at belly w/ eagle "135". Belly also marked w/ S# & "H" indicating German army issue. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 9 7/8" fullered blade bayonet marked only w/ S# on cross guard & at end of pommel on left side w/ “2” eagles "519"s. Smooth walnut grips. Blued steel scabbard marked on frog retainer. "H" & "4". Bayonet & scabbard in excellent condition retaining most of original finish w/ several sm. dents on scabbard. Blade is unsharpened. CONDITION: rifle retains nearly all its original finish on both wood & metal. Wood has spots of light staining & scattered small handling marks. Near excellent shiny bore.
