MODEL 98/29 BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE WITH 1934 DATED TEST TARGET. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# Y3367. Original S# in Farsi gives the Y as a suffix. All visible numbers match in Farsi. Bbl. 29 1/4". Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters (Farsi). Inverted V front sight with integral protective ears. This fine condition rifle is a very scarce early Iranian manufactured model made under BRNO supervision in Iran. The original test target is in both Farsi as well as the Czech language. This rifle has very crisp well defined markings and Persian crest. The receiver ring is marked on top with the crest and on the right side with acceptance marks which include a "crown", "crossed swords" and numerals for "12". The left side has the S#. The left receiver rail has markings which translate to" BRNO sample from factory 1309". The straight bolt has a Farsi S# with a "star and crown" on the bolt knob. The bolt also has an encircled "CZ" and "M 6" under the handle. The only other "CZ" is on the rear sight spring. The rifle has all milled furniture with bottom swivels including the permanent third swivel in the trigger guard bow. Cleaning rod and bayonet bar are present. The European walnut stock set is made with grasping grooves. The hand guard extends from the receiver ring to 1/2" beyond the lower band. Right side of Butt has Farsi markings and unmarked Id disk. Flat steel buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original 1934 dated test target written in both Czech and Farsi. The unique document is folded with staining and fading but is generally legible. CONDITION: The stock set on this rifle has a very nice appearing original finish with sharp markings, it does however have scattered handling marks through out. The metal retains a very large degree of its original finish with only light high point wear. Near excellent shiny bore. PROVENANCE: Dr. Fred Novy collection. (23-171/RW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
