Cal. 7.92mm (8mm Mauser). S# 0025. Bbl. 23". Blade front sight with hood. Aperture rear sight graduated to 1000m. Very rare Czech ZK420-S designed by brothers Josef & Frantisek Koucky. The rifle was designed in 1942 but due to WW2 the rifle wouldn't be produced until after the war. This rifle design incorporates design features of other self loading rifles of the period such as the earlier Czech semi autos & the M1 Garand. Very few of these rifles were made with total production estimated around 200. The rifles were made in a variety of different calibers for different countries but the rifle was never adopted by any nation. Right side of receiver has small Simpson Ltd. import marking. Right of receiver also marked "MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA CAL. 7.92mm". Receiver top marked with CZ logo, Czech lion proof & serial number. Left side of receiver marked "ZK 420-S" & ""ZBROJOVKA BRNO / NARODNI PODNIC". Phosphate finish. Walnut stock set with left side sling provisions. Stock numbered "25" behind trigger guard. MAGS: 1-10 rd. detachable numbered "20" in electropencil. CONDITION: stock set shows the expected scattered light dings & handling marks. Metal retains 80% original phosphate with some fading most notable on the receiver area, scattered light edge wear, some light freckling & dried grease. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bright bore with strong rifling & scattered dried grease. (24-5549/MJC). CURIO. $15000-25000.
