NATIONALE HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 0294. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Fabrique Nationale under contract for Venezuela. Accompanying documentation from Charles Wagner indicates that this is the only known example of a Venezuelan contract FN High Power in the United States. The left side of the slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE/ HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE", with the Venezuelan crest marked over the top, towards the rear sight. Left side of the frame and slide, as well as the right side of the bbl. exhibit Belgian commercial proofs. Right side of the frame is marked "F.A.C." (Fuerzas Aramadas De Cooperacion). Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips (left panel carved with 3 notches at the rear), which feature red anti-moisture barrier paint on the interior of the panels, as well as a lanyard ring on the left side. Thumbprint slide features a fixed half-moon blade front sight, with a dovetailed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 blued 13-rd. mag., with blued button type floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: page of notes from Charles Wagner regarding this variation. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some wear and thinning, with areas of light surface oxidation and scattered spots of mild surface oxidation and pitting present overall. Grip straps exhibit consistent mild pitting, with some scattered spots of moderate pitting. Bbl. exhibits age related discoloration overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting and some scattered spots of dark pitting (primarily towards the chamber), while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing overall, as well as some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
