MODEL PP SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL, WITH NUMBERED MAGAZINES & HOLSTER. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 157745p. Bbl. 3 7/8". Model PP semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther in 1940 under contract for the SS. This example is listed by S# on page 94 of "SS Contract Walther PP/PPK Contract Variations & Serial Numbers", by Thomas Whiteman. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner logo, followed by markings stipulating Walther's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Right side of the frame (on chamber), slide, and bbl. exhibit a German Crown/N commercial nitro proof. Metal components exhibit a polished blue finish overall, save for on the chamber area, which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Walther banner checkered black synthetic grips. Slide features a grooved matte rib, with a fixed blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch rear sight. Slide matches the frame via the full S# on the right side. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. mag. marked "157745P/ 1" ("P" is stamped over a "K") on the spine. This example is also accompanied by a second blued 8-rd. mag. marked "202898P/ 2" on the spine. Left side of mag. is marked with the Walther banner logo above the cal. designation, which is stamped above a 9mm cal. designation. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leather holster marked "D.R.G.M." above a partially discernible Akah logo, beneath the closure flap strap. CONDITION: very good to excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning (primarily on edges), with some scattered superficial handling marks present overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing to the checkering, as well as some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting some wear overall, with a tear present at the toe on the front. A high condition example of a scarce SS contract Walther Model PP pistol. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-352/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
