LUGER HOLSTER, WITH CLEANING ROD & LOADING TOOL. Leather LP.08 Luger holster mfg. by Mars (trade name of Walther Erdtmann) in 1915. This early and unusual holster is constructed of heavily grained black leather, and features tucked and stitched closure flap, with a Reichsrevolver holster pattern stitching present at the toe. While outwardly resembling the early Bavarian pattern LP.08 holsters, the cleaning rod and loading tool provisions are placed in the locations are placed in the standard production patterns and locations. Rear of holster is marked "MARS/ BERLIN 1915" between the belt loops. Holster contains a period cleaning rod, as well as an Imperially proofed loading tool that is marked "1.35." CONDITION: leather remains malleable, exhibiting some wear, and scattered areas that exhibit varying degrees of age related cracking and crazing. Provision for the cleaning rod exhibits a hole at the toe. A nice example of a seldom encountered and early 1915 date Mars production LP.08 Luger holster.
