PATTERN PUSH DAGGER, BY SUTHERLAND & RHODEN. Scarce Robbins of Dudley pattern push dagger mfg. by Sutherland & Rhoden of Sheffield. The horizontally oriented double edged blade measures 4 5/8" from the point, with an overall length of 5 7/8" from the point to the rearmost section of the grip. Blade is marked "SUTHERLAND/ & RHODEN. SHEFFIELD" over the top towards the handle. Handle is comprised of cast aluminum and features a knuckle bow above the finger grooves. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather scabbard, with orange button pattern retention strap. Rear button is marked "MADE IN ENGLAND". CONDITION: blade is very good, retaining a bright gray patina, with scattered spots and areas of light to mild pitting and age related discoloration. Handle shows some superficial handling marks and some age related discoloration, but otherwise is very good overall. Scabbard remains malleable, exhibiting wear, with varying degrees of age related cracking and crazing present overall. Retention strap exhibits a tear at the bottom section of the button. A nice example of a Robbins of Dudley pattern push dagger, produced by a rare mfg. (02-23496/MLW). $500-750.
