PISTOL, TYPE VI ENGRAVED, WITH FACTORY BOX. Cal. 25. S# 987871. Bbl. 2 1/8". Model 1905 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Fabrique Nationale. The left side of the slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D ARMES de GUERRE HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE". Left side of the frame, slide, and right side of the bbl. exhibit Belgian commercial proofs. Left side of the frame is engraved with a small "FN" within an oval, followed by an encircled "F.F." ("F.F." also engraved on right side) beneath the grip panel. Frame, slide, and grip safety exhibit foliate gold inlays in the factory Type VI pattern. Frame appears to retain its original blue finish, with the slide having been reblued at one time. Frame is mounted with 2-piece ivory grips, which are embellished, with "FN" within an oval at the top of the panels. Grips no longer retain their escutcheons at the screw slots, with the left panel exhibiting a contemporary screw nut. Slide features a grooved sight channel, with a fixed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 6-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original factory box, ink stamped "FN" within an oval above an encircled ".25", and an impressed "BROWNING" on the lid. CONDITION: frame retains the majority of its original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as some scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation. Slide is very good, as refinished, exhibiting light surface level pitting overall, with a few scattered spots of mild pitting. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good, retaining a pleasing mellow patina, while showing some light superficial marks from handling and storage. Box exhibits some light to mild wear, scattered spots of staining, and age related discoloration overall. 2 corners of the lid show some tearing, but box otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (25-1198/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
