PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 1829515. Bbl. 5". Model 1911A1 mfg. by Ithaca in 1944. This is a classic U.S. military semi-automatic pistol from WWII, a common gun, but in extraordinary condition. Left side of slide with the 2-line address reflecting the manufacturer and its location in Ithaca, NY. Right side of frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" above the S# "1829515". Top of the slide and left side of the frame are marked with the usual "P" proofs, breaking the finish to show the white metal underneath. The right side of the frame is marked with the ordnance wheel, again breaking the finish. "FJA" inspector marking on the left side of the frame behind the trigger cutout. Disassembly shows a correct Hi Standard bbl. with a "P" on the left side of the lug and a "HS" on the right side of the lug. Fitted with late brown plastic grips, having screw head reinforcements and a standard blued mag. with 5 indicator holes and a toe marked "R" on its upper surface. MAGS: 1 7-rd. CONDITION: spectacular 99%+ original pistol with mirror bore. Comparable condition grips and mag. A great 1911A1, that would be virtually impossible to improve upon. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Edward Scott Meadows. (24-704/LMA). CURIO. $3,000-4,000.
