FORCES BRING BACK VIETNAM ERA U.S. CONTRACT STEVENS MODEL 77E RIOT GUN. Cal. 12 Ga, 2 3/4". S# 57153. Bbl. 20" Cyl. with steel front bead. Primarily intended for use by South Vietnamese forces, the 77E was manufactured with a much shorter length of pull (12-1/2") as is the case with this gun. As usage of these riot guns increased, armorers began to see that the weak point on this particular arm was the stock attachment to the receiver meaning that on those rare occasions a 77E riot gun is encountered, the stock will likely have been replaced. Right side of receiver behind bbl. marked "U.S.". Top of receiver & bbl. each marked with "P" proof. Receiver, bbl. & mag tube are parkerized. Black anodized bolt. Original unmarked dark stained ribbed slide handle & pistol grip stock with original red "T" ventilated rubber recoil pad. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: notorized letter from consignor stating the following "To whom it may concern: I can certify that Stevens Mod. 77E Ser # 57153 U.S. shotgun was hand carried from Vietnam back to the states circa 1970 by Don Bemis Sgt E-5 U.S. Army 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne)" followed by signature & rank 11C4S (Ret.). Letter is redacted for privacy purposes but will be included in its entirety to the purchaser. CONDITION: very fine overall. Metal components retain 90% original finish with staining and a few scattered light handling marks. Near excellent buttstock retains the vast majority of its original black stained finish, original hard rubber "T" recoil pad near excellent. Slide handle shows very light wear. Bright, shiny bore. Mechanically excellent. (25-4565/BH) CURIO. $4,000-6,000.
