Cal. 303 Brit. S# A3712. Bbl. 20.5" over flash suppressor. Jungle carbine mfg. during WW2 to provide a lighter rifle for British troops. Rifle has correct No. 5 features, including: receiver made w/out boss on right rail which is present on standard No. 4 rifles, 2 lightning cuts on receiver beneath rear sight, hollow bolt knob & folding adj. rear sight graduated to 800yds. Blade front sight w/ protective ears is mounted on cone type flash suppressor, which includes a bayonet lug. Plunger type bolt head release. Receiver is marked on left w/ electro pencil “NO. 5 MK1 ROF (F) 8-44”, additional export marking is “MK5 303 UK”. Import mark on left side of receiver. Walnut stock set. Stock is unmarked except for rack number “24” on left side of butt in white paint. Forend has plain wood tip. Rubber buttpad & side mounted sling. Correct green web sling which is dated “1944”. MAGS: 1-10 rd. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear, dents, staining & scratches throughout. Forend has noticeable crack extending rearward from tip to bbl. band. Metal has 50% thinning wartime finish w/ wear & scattered handling marks. Very good, shiny bore. (20-1805/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
