Circa 1810, Massachusetts. The Roxbury style case with an arched bonnet with pierced fretwork alternating with three brass spire and ball finials above the molded arch. The glass panel door is flanked by free standing fluted colonettes with brass capitals. The waist with panel door, with string inlaid border and molded edge flanked by engaged stop fluted quarter columns with brass capitals and bases joined to the box base with concave molding. The figural mahogany panel with inlaid fan spandrels on the molded base raised on ogee bracket feet. The 11" enamel painted dial with a songbird in the arch, perched within a scrolled leafy spray above the dial with Roman numeral chapter ring and Arabic numeral ring with 5 minute inices centering a sweep seconds subsidiary dial over time and strike apertures above a crescent calendar aperture. The face additionally decorated with floral painted spandrels. The brass 8 Day movement striking on a bell and driven by weights. The iron front plate case with the maker's name "Wilson". SIZE: 89" h x 14" throat width x 10" d. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: pendulum and rod, winder, 2 weights and key. A slip of paper in envelope listing cleaning dates, polishing dates etc. CONDITION: case is very good with old surface. The dial is very good with original. Movement is clean and intact.
