Overall length: 39 3/4". Blade length: 34 3/4". The fine early blade has etching over 1/3 of its length that reads, “AMERICAN (American eagle) LIGHT. HORSE”. The spine of the blade reads, “WILHELM M. TESCHE. PETERS. SOHN. IN. SOLINGEN. FECITE”. Solid brass hilt featuring a 6 slot brass guard & knuckle bow. The grip is quite solid but shows wear attesting to its use in America’s formative years. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark gray patina w/ scattered old mottling & oxidation. Grip has a rich mellow patina. Guard has a slightly darker patina. (02-15863/BF). $1,500-2,000.
