MADE AT HARPERS FERRY. Cal. 52. S# NSN. Bbl. 32.75". Fine example of 1st US government breech loading rifle, standard configuration 52.75" overall, multi-groove rifled brown finished barrel, unique left offset front blade & fixed rear sight due to battery on top right of breech, 3 pinned iron bands, hinged tilt up breech block marked "J. H. HALL / H. FERRY US / 1832", walnut stock. Most of these rifles were converted to percussion for Civil War, but this is beautiful survivor in original flint configuration, complete & original. CONDITION: very fine, iron retains most of its original arsenal brown, crisp markings. Stock has raised grain with minor cosmetic storage dings & dents, no cracks or chips like seen on majority of survivors. Mechanics crisp, bright shiny crisp rifled bore with short rebated smooth "starter" at muzzle. PROVENANCE: Michael E. Bray estate collection. (01-23287/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
