TAKEDOWN RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 8T92451. Bbl. 19 3/85". SA-22 semi-automatic takedown rifle mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale and imported by Browning Arms Company in 1968. Top of the bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information above "MADE IN BELGIUM", with the cal. designation marked on the left, and "BROWNING'S PATENT" marked on the right. Sides of receiver feature Grade I pattern engraving consisting of a wavy line borders and foliate motif at the center of the panels, with the underside of the trigger guard bow featuring a small engraved foliate motif. Underside of bolt is marked with a sole Belgian nitro proof, which is repeated on the left side of the bbl. (partially obscured by wood line). Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, which is polished in-the-white. Glossy finished checkered wood forearm and pistol grip buttstock with a grooved black enamel finished steel buttplate. Standard dovetailed and brass beaded blade front sight. Rear sight is absent. Bbl. is fitted with a black enamel finished aluminum scope mount featuring a Simmons 4x32 22 MAG scope. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting few light superficial handling marks overall. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture is excellent overall. Scope retains a clear and sharp optic. A fine and attractive example of a 1968 production Belgian Browning SA-22 rifle. (25-6798/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
